Communication présentée le 16 novembre 2013

From his standard biographies, Claude Bourgelat (1712-1779), Enlightened man, encyclopedist and founder of veterinary schools in Lyon and Alfort, does not seem to have been a Freemason. A single document, i.e. a pseudonymous polemic text published in 1885, mentions Bourgelat as a Mason when he was head of the Royal Academy of Equitation in Lyon in 1746. We shall consider the identification of its author, we shall trace the source in its background and we shall put its accurate interpretation.
