French military veterinarians killed during the First World War

By Emmanuel Dumas, Docteur Vétérinaire, vétérinaire en chef

After a reminder of the rank of the veterinarians in the French army in 1914, the website “memoire des hommes” is presented: it brings together all the death certificates of more than 1,300 000 French combatants who were killed during the First World War. The results of the research carried out on this site and in the veterinary reviews of the time are then laid out and used to illustrate the participation of the army veterinarians in World
War1. All the personal information collected on the veterinarians who died for France in this war is to be found in the appendix.
