Recalling François-Hilaire Gilbert and the rediscovery of his archives

This article dealing with the history of François-Hilaire Gilbert was written by an enthusiast of this young professor of the Alfort Veterinary School, already well-known, but brought back to light by the study of his archives. The circumstances by which these archives were rediscovered, studied and housed in Alfort are recalled. A brief presentation of his life and work is given, completed by references to previous studies of the author.
